F1b Bernedoodle

I'd like you to meet Fluffy!
Fluffy is an F1b puppy that we produced.
F1b pups are a cross between an F1 Bernedoodle and a Poodle (they are about 75% Poodle), which sometimes can give them a curlier coat, but NOT always.

Will they have the famous "Teddy Bear look" we love?
YES, they will all have the "teddy bear look", as long as the Poodle carries 2 furnishing genes and will transfer at least 1 to his offsprings. We absolutely need to GENETICALLY TEST our parents in order to know what they carry!

What are furnishings and why are they SO important when breeding Doodles?
Furnishings are what's going to determine if the dog will shed lots, minimal, or not at all. The more furnishings, the less shedding!
The F1 parent (who is genetically F/IC, meaning carrying only 1 copy of furnishing) has the chance of passing down either 1 furnishing gene or 1 unfurnished gene to its offsprings. Since Poodles are FF, they will automatically pass down 1 copy of furnishings to their puppies.
That being said, F1b puppies can either be F/IC (genetically like an F1 Bernedoodle and shed the exact same), OR, be fully furnished (F/F, shedding would be minimal to almost non-existent).
Are they considered hypoallergenic?
Keep in mind that hypoallergenic only means it's less likely to cause allergies. Some dogs are definitely more hypoallergenic than others, but none of them are 100% guaranteed to be allergy friendly.
With the F1b, about 75% will have 2 copies of furnishings (much better for allergies as shedding will be minimal) while 25% of the litter could carry only 1 copy and shed exactly like an F1 Bernedoodle.
There is NO way of knowing if the dog carries 1 or 2 copies other than testing each puppy for that exact gene!

What kind of coat will they have?
F1b Bernedoodles can vay between curly and wavy. In a litter, about 75% will have curlier coats, and 25% will have wavy coats. In a litter, it's luck of the draw. It all depends if they inherit 1 or 2 copies of curls (1 copy = wavy ; 2 copies = curly)
Will they need to be groomed?
They will need to be groomed regularly, as their fur will keep on growing just like a Poodle. Those with curlier coats will need to be brushed and groomed more often to prevent matting, so we recommend every 6-8 weeks. Those with wavier coats, we recommend going to the groomer every 8-10 weeks, and brushing regularly in between appointments.
